History:
The Mill of Pommeuse was one of the 8 mills of the village. The villages around also counted several of them. Its origin is dubious.
However, its existence is revealed as of the end of XIVe century by a consent returned in June 1400 by the Duke of Orleans which acknowledges to receive taxes on the receipts of its production.
It is then a mill with corn, which one indicated towards XVIe century under the name of Jacob mill, probably the name of the one of the millers who had exploited it previously. The mill was the communal mill until the revolution and belonged to the lord.
It belonged to a vast property around a castle, grounds in a state of meadows, wood and also of vines. With the revolution the castle was destroyed, the Mill confiscated and sold like national good. It became property of the Huerne general then.
Later it is the Delaplace family which exploited it. It made important improvements there. The mill became an establishment of first order, equipped with the last improvements brought in the grinding of the grains.
It is into 1967 that the techniques having still evolved/moved and of great structures being installed closer to the large Parisien market, it ceased its activity. Other Mills of the area for the majority having already closed their doors.
For a few years, the Mill has known a true resurrection.
The owners endeavour to renovate the Mill in the respect of the origins and the Briardes traditions.
The turbine is still in perfect operating condition. It is presented inside the places like a true museum piece; witness of a whole time.
